Cooking Spray

SoldierBeetle by SoldierBeetle Trainee(June 2007) (rank 321st)
MacGuyver might have been able to do anything with a stick of chewing gum, give me a can of cooking spray anytime. Squeaky doors? Doorknobs that won't turn freely? I'm all over it. A quick squirt of the good stuff in the hinges and they're as good as gold.

Nothing beats the right tool for the job, but there is nothing worse than remembering once again at 11:00pm when you're trying to have a quick shower before going to bed while at the same time trying to be really quiet because the 2 year old is finally asleep, that the linen closet door squeaks to the proverbials and you don't have a towel. Forget the garage looking for the WD40 that you never have when you need it, I'm heading for the kitchen...

And then last night enlightenment when things were at their worst... A task for which I thought there was no solution, a cup of tea through the laptop brought innovation to new levels. A quick wipe-down of the outside, a quick squirt of cooking oil to the inside, and hey presto - the computer that was not working is now working once again. Some might call this a fluke, but I choose to think that the water dispersant properties of cooking spray came to the fore, and if nothing else I'm hoping it'll at least prevent corrosion.

I guess we'll know in a week or so. If I'm still posting, then it worked...

Re: Cooking Spray
This sounds great, let us know how long it keeps the squeaks away.

Re: Cooking Spray

Great advice - do you have a preference for Olive or Canola?

Well, I'm going to add a can to my tool box.  I be waiting to hear how the computer faired. :-)
