Using an Interior Designer

ClayCook by ClayCook Refurber Founder(May 2007) (rank 10th)
We have used Interior Designers twice for 2 new homes. The first was pretty much a disaster and the latest one was great.

The good one was a referral from a family friend. We had seen their house a few years before and really liked what they had done and so asked who helped them out. She helped us work out what furniture, rugs, art etc we should get and where it should all go. The end result was excellent in my opinion, everything flowed and worked extremely well together.

One of the benefits of interior designers that people don't immediately realize is that they can help you save money. Did I say "save money"? Yes I certainly did. The arrangement we came up with is that her cost would be 10% of anything we purchased. The trick is though that they know where to shop and on most occasions get large discounts from the wholesalers that they buy their items from. So I believe we ended up saving a fair amount of money, plus we ended up with a house that looked awesome.

Hope this helps.

Re: Using an Interior Designer
I didn't realize you could pay with a percentage of items purchased. Thanks for the tip!
