Installing Drawer Pulls |

Installing the drawer pulls in my kitchen has to be one of the easiest things I have done. I can’t believe it took me so long. I did have a few tips that I wanted to share.
Since most drawer pulls come with a threaded bolt rather than a screw you need to make sure you pick the right drill bit so they won’t be loose. I usually start with backing up the bolt up to the shaft of the drill bit. I want the drill bit to be just a hair bigger than the size of the bolt so it fits in easily but snugly. I drill a test hole in a piece of scrap lumber just to make sure.
To make sure I get the pulls centered on each drawer and door I make a template out of heavy paper with the measurements that I want. This way, I don’t have to measure every drawer; I only have to tape the template on.
If you are putting in a single knob try to get one with a spur on it that will dig into the wood as you tighten the bolt. That will insure that the knob stays nice and tight.
That’s it really. Very easy project. It took less than an hour from start to finish.
If your cabinets have current drawer pulls the holes are alread drilled. You can do a nice face lift of your cabinets with new drawer pulls and there are so many to choose from these days.
