Installing knobs on cabinet doors |

This is a quick and easy project and related to the article recently written on installing drawer pulls. The trick is to create a jig to make sure all of your knobs are exactly even.
If you have frame and panel style doors you’ll probably want to center the knob left to right on the stile. Our doors are 2 ¼ inches across so on a scrap rectangle of wood we marked a vertical line 1 1/8 inch from the edge. We decided we wanted our knobs 4 inches from the bottom and marked that point as the location for the knobs.
We drilled a hole in the jig and then glued and nailed scrap wood to the side of the jig so we could line it up with the corner of the cabinet every time (make the edges of your jig extend on both sides and your jig will be reversible!
To use the jig, simply line it up on the corner of the cabinet door and use your drill to just mark the place for the hole. Remove the jig and drill the hole all the way through taking care not the split the wood at the back. Then install your knob on the machine screw.
This is an easy way to install your knobs perfectly every time.
