I thought I'd share this with you as I think it's a really amazing and intriguing experiment. A family from Australia has decided to experiment with true, sustainable living. They aim to not spend a dollar during 6 months, use the land to grow their own food, etc.

Energy Savings Day (UK) Bombs Out

"The UK's first Energy Saving Day has ended with no noticeable reduction in the country's electricity usage.

E-Day asked people to switch off electrical devices they did not need over a period of 24 hours, with the National Grid monitoring consumption.

It found that electricity usage was almost exactly what would have been expected without E-Day."

In fact the consumption was higher than the average! How amusing (and sad)!
