This post is from from my other blog here Last night at around 8:00 pm Vincent was euthanized at the vet's office. Eric and I were right there with him as he went to sleep and his four months of pain finally ended. The chemotherapy was working and aggressively killing the lymphocytes in his blood, but his body was too weak to handle the side effects of the chemo and he went into shock from raised potassium and lowered calcium levels. He started rapidly losing weight and his blood pressure dropped dangerously low. Ever after fluids and blood transfusion he was in a great deal of pain so we opted to halt the treatment and end things the best way possible. Jules and has been howling all night for him and Eric and I are inconsolable. He was a great cat, everyone who ever met him liked him. He wasn't like Jules, who has a frosty personality that takes some warming up to, he was a universally happy and all around awesome little guy. He was 10 years old, which is way too young for a cat to die, but we know he had a good life for those 10 years. Safe travels little man, you'll be deeply missed.
More photos of our boy Vincent after the jump…
One of Vincent's favorite things to do was to sit on my desk while I was working and show me his belly for pets
Vincent and Jules were are adorable pair
In a way Vincent was Eric's cat, while Jules was mine. If possible, he might be taking this even harder than I am
Sorry we couldn't save you Vinny. I'm sure you know we tried. And I'm sure you know how much we loved you and how much you'll be missed
