I'm in awe of them.  I went on a walk the other day and I could not believe how many webs there were.  Maybe I could just see them better because it had rained and they were all covered in droplets of water, looking like tiny strings of pearls.

Spiderweb_1 This one was just getting started.

Spiderweb_2 This one was about two feet across, that is one ambitious spider!

Spiderweb_3 They are like snowflakes. Everyone has it's own personality.

Spiderweb_4 This one was particularly creative.

Spiderweb_5 Lunch!

Spiderweb_6 This one was right over the water.

Spiderweb_9 This guy must have been distracted, or maybe it was his first try?

Spiderweb_11 There really was not one place you could look without seeing a web.  Maybe they are there all the time and the rain drops and the sun just made the more visible.

Jane isn't always the best at blowing her own horn (so let me do it for her).  We got some surprise recognition this week with an article in the Seattle Times.  Check here to see he article.  Our blog is mentioned under the Tips and Tales heading.

Tips and tales

Take expirationdates (wrightideas.typepad.com), a blog about a couple who set out to build a house in Washington state with the help of friends and relatives. The house is finished, or mostly so ("some flooring and tiling needs to be done"), and you can witness the results online in a photo gallery covering everything from house plans to a "deck building party."

Typical blog entries are titled "Window Sills" ("they were much harder than we first thought"), "What an Ordeal" (trees requiring removal) and "Gutters" (they have trees growing in them). Like other houseblogs, this one blends stories about the ups and downs of home improvement with nitty-gritty guidance. A blog entry on the home's bamboo flooring, for instance, provides pointers for avoiding a split between floorboards. Photos, of course, document the problem.

So here is a well deserved Atta Girl for my girl Jane!!

Is it October already?

The summer just flew by.  The rains have already started here and the river is up.  There is a huge salmon run this year.  Samon_river This is how the river looked a few weeks ago.  It was crystal clear.  You can see some salmon there in the middle.

There is a fish at the very top of this one.

Fish

This is how the river looks today.

October_river Like a non fat triple shot latte.

It is still full of salmon although we only see them when they jump.

I have started working on projects around the house.  I finally installed the drawer pulls in the kitchen.

Drawer_pulls_3 No more Trying to open the doors with my toes or breaking a nail opening the drawers from the sides.

They look awesome.

It's nice to finally be working on the house again.  We have really been avoiding it for some reason.

Since it is October again we celebrated another anniversary.  22 years.  I cannot believe it.  Dave bought me this lovely Franz swan vase to add to my swan collection.

Swans It is so lovely.  I have been lusting after that collection for some time now.  I'm not sure yet where it is going to live.  Maybe I need to hang a new shelf.
