I'm a 32 year old tackling the rennovation of a 20 year old, 2 storey rammed earth home located on 5.5 acres in the Swan Valley, Western Australia.
"Quandline" or "place of the large trees" has been built in accordance with solar passive design principles (the Swan Valley is a very hot place in summer) and in testimony to the previous owners I must say it blends well with its beautiful rural surroundings.
The bones of the building are fine and there is an abundence of space, it simply needs a new interior and some surrounding landscaping. It needs to be brought in to the year 2007 and hopefully before the year's end too!!
I'm hoping this site puts me in contact with other folks tackling major rennovations, so we can share tips, tricks and generally vent our rennovation frustrations.
We now have cupboards with benchtops in the kitchen, laundry and one of our bathrooms but more importantly it is reassuring to see that the project is starting to look less like a building site and more like a home.
