Huge rock in back of basement

I have about 200 square feet of Rock in my basement.  We have finished the other 850 square ft and now want to cover the rock and build storage space on the rock.  The rock is not clean and it wet. The run off from the rock is directed to drain and this works fine.  What can we put over the rock to cover it?  Can we put something on the rock then frame and cover with plywood?  The reason for the rock is that we only partially blasted the space when we built. (big mistake)

Covering something that is wet is probably not a good idea.  First try to see if you can stop the runoff and dry the area before you build a structure over it our you will have possibility for mold and I would guess a pretty musty smell.  Any wood coming into contact with it would rot over time.   Do you have pictures?
