Can an OTR micro be installed where there is no exhaust?

My old oven blew up so had to go looking.  I fell into a chance to buy three pieces: Frigidaire Elements slide-in stove, dishwasher and OTR micro. The price was great considering what slide-in ranges go for on their own.

We installed the range and dishwasher, but have the micro in the garage. It's a beauty -- convection as well, but we're tearing down the cabinets and range hood over the breakfast bar. We want to install cabinets along another wall, and wondered if we could add the OTR microwave since it's matches the other appliances. But we wouldn't be able to use the exhaust...plus we'd have to have an electrician come in to add an outlet up higher on the wall.

Is this do-able? Or, do we just sell the OTR unit and put up with the micro on the counter?

Don't immediately assume that, just because there is currently no exhaust, that an exhaust duct couldn't be added relatively painlessly. I have done several kitchen renovations, and taking the time and trouble to properly install an OTR is well worth the effort when the payoff is more precious countertop real estate. Patching walls isn't that big of a deal in most cases, so I urge you to really look at the feasibility of running a duct to the outside. In most cases, a solution is possible. Your indoor air quality will benefit from the time you spend properly venting your cook top to the outside.

Just checking back and wanted to add let us know what you decide to do.  I wish people would let us know the results of advice they receive here as it would guide us in knowing if what we advise is worthwhile or not.

Thanks!
